A professional will come out to your residence and do an inspection. After the inspection, they will determine how many bait boxes you will need to get rid of the mice. Usually outside bait stations are sufficient, but sometimes smaller ones are used indoors as well. The stations will be filled with bait that the mice can access, but nothing else. The bait stations are locked, so they can't be accessed by pets or children. 

Several of our customers at Hoosier Pest Control choose to have bait stations placed outside of their residences before an infestation occurs. It is a great way to keep the mice out of your house. This is a service we recommend. If you choose to do this, a professional would place bait boxes(the number depends on the size of your home), and fill them with bait. You would have a one time charge for the bait stations themselves, and then be billed for the filling of the bait stations twice a year in the Spring and the Fall.
